Toronto-based indie game publisher Quill Yuri has announced the release of its highly anticipated yuri visual novel, "The Final Prize is Soup," on Steam. The game, which was a runner-up at Spooktober Visual Novel 2023, tells the story of a woman named Hailu who finds herself in the afterlife and is given the chance to avert her death by completing a series of challenges.

"The Final Prize is Soup" is now available for free on Steam and features a 45,000-word script, 3-6 hours of gameplay, and two primary endings. The game also includes an original soundtrack, anime-style character art, and accessibility features such as adjustable font size and typeface.

In addition to the base game, the Steam release includes new music and a brand new side story with over 10,000 words. The in-game developer Q&A has also been expanded to include content for those who have finished the game, delving into the game's secrets and lore.

"The Final Prize is Soup" tells a chilling tale of love and survival, as Hailu must navigate the afterlife and confront her past in order to change her fate. Despite the gruesome circumstances, Hailu may even find love along the way, as she finds herself curious about the enigmatic referee of the death game and is reunited with her ex-girlfriend, who is also a contestant.

Quill Yuri is a game publisher dedicated to sharing cathartic yuri stories with the world. The company has previously developed and published "Death Becomes You," a mystery yuri visual novel set in a magical university, as well as publishing developer 4noki's previous game, the horror mystery yuri visual novel, "Lachesis or Atropos." "The Final Prize is Soup" is the latest addition to Quill Yuri's mission to bring more sapphic stories with striking anime visuals to fans.
