Screen Australia Boosts Australian Games Industry with $1.3 Million Investment

Pc Games Indie GameScreen Australia has announced funding for 23 games, totaling over 1.3 million dollars, as part of their commitment to supporting local talent and the originality of work being produced in the Australian games sector. The funding will provide pathways for gamemakers to upskill, transition from solo to studio development, and drive their games from prototype to launch. The investments will also support the launch of the ALT: Games Festival and enable seven Australian gamemakers to attend the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
The 23 games supported include Dragon Valley, Bee Major, Management In Space, These Starless Skies, Hex Bound, and Dancing Hearts. These games showcase the diversity, unique culture, and game design expertise of Australian gamemakers and will help to strengthen Australia's international standing in the global market.
The ALT: Games Festival is a new annual festival that aims to provide opportunities to connect community and industry. The festival will feature an in-person games showcase, workshops, a large-scale interactive art installation, and industry-focused events featuring international speakers.
Seven recipients have been selected as part of the Future Leaders Delegation travelling to San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference (GDC). The recipients will be supported to seek out professional opportunities and build relationships that will benefit their careers.
Screen Australia's Games Production Fund provides funding for the development, production, and marketing of Australian video games. The fund is designed to support the growth of a sustainable and innovative Australian games development industry.
