Reef Creative Group Acquires Bitmap Bureau: A Retro Game Development Powerhouse

Reef Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Reef Creative Group, will collaborate with Bitmap Bureau on future titles. Bitmap Bureau, founded in 2016 by industry veterans Matthew Cope and Mike Tucker, is dedicated to creating high-quality retro-style games for both modern and retro consoles. They are known for their commitment to authenticity in coding and physical packaging.
Reef Entertainment, best known for the successful first-person shooter Terminator: Resistance, will work with Bitmap Bureau on two new titles. The partnership aims to allow Bitmap Bureau to focus on game development while Reef Entertainment provides funding, administration, and publishing support. This acquisition is part of Reef Creative Group's strategy to become a leading developer and publisher in the European market by 2030.
The Reef Creative Group, formed in 2022, aims to acquire development studios and provide them with stable funding, access to publishing, marketing, and administration expertise, and an established route to market. Bitmap Bureau, with its focus on retro-style games, complements Reef Entertainment's portfolio and allows both companies to build higher-quality games and retro physical collections.
