After Light Fades: A Poignant Puzzle Game on Grief and Transformation, Launching June 20

Orchid of Redemption, an indie game developer, has announced that their narrative puzzle game, After Light Fades, will be launched on Steam on June 20, 2025, with a 10% discount for the first week. The game follows Alice, a grieving woman who navigates a surreal world shaped by loss after her partner, Aura, dies in a house fire.

After Light Fades features sokoban-inspired gameplay and elemental puzzles, where players must solve intricate challenges using spatial logic and box-pushing mechanics. Each puzzle is shaped by artefact-specific abilities that Alice must eventually abandon, symbolizing the process of letting go.

The game's mechanics are deeply interconnected, and every interaction between elements reflects Alice's emotional journey. Players will have access to a full level editor with Steam Workshop support, allowing them to build and share their own stories and puzzle creations using the game's rich mechanic set.

After Light Fades features seven emotional puzzle worlds, each representing a stage of grief. The game's narrative is told through gameplay, where each of the seven key mechanics that players master is eventually relinquished, reflecting the main character's internal journey through grief and growth.

The game will be available on Steam for $14.99 USD with a limited-time 10% launch discount. Orchid of Redemption is an independent game studio based in Adelaide, Australia, focused on creating simple, rich, and flowing experiences through a "minimum lovable product" philosophy. After Light Fades is their second release, following the award-winning debut title Joon Shining.
