WRKS Games, a UK-based video game development company, has announced that it will be moving its primary business operations to Singapore by the end of 2024. The move will result in the closure of the UK business and the establishment of a new entity in Singapore, which will inherit the current intellectual property, products, and revenue streams of the UK-based company.

Kosala Ubayasekara, the founder and CEO of WRKS Games, cited declining support for creative industries, increased political volatility, and a right-wing shift in European populations as reasons for the move. He expressed that the games industry in the Western world has not learned from its past and that a stable environment is necessary for the company's ambitious business plan to succeed.

The transition to Singapore is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and customers and fans can expect no changes in their ability to acquire games and products or in the support of current and future products. The company currently has a core team of six people and a freelance team of around 12, and it has committed to creating local jobs in Singapore by transitioning to a traditional studio model with a fixed office. The company will provide a grace period until August 31, 2025, for team members to decide whether to relocate, with full relocation assistance provided for those who choose to do so.
