Digital Extremes, the developer of the popular sci-fi game Warframe, has announced a new narrative chapter, Warframe: 1999, set to release in Winter 2024. The update will take players back to Earth in 1999 and allow them to team up with six different Protoframes to track down Dr. Entrati before the new year. The update will also introduce Infested Liches, Infested variations of Earth's iconic 90's boy band On-lyne, and a new Warframe, Cyte-09.

In addition to the new chapter, Digital Extremes also announced a new prologue quest, The Lotus Eaters, which will be released in August 2024. The quest will reunite players with the iconic character, the Lotus, and introduce the Sevagoth Prime, an enhanced form of the dark helmsman. The update will also include new mounts, weapons, skins, and high-fidelity Heirloom skins for the Ember and Rhino Warframes.

Warframe: 1999 will also be adapted into an anime short by animation arthouse THE LINE. The game has also announced a collaboration with notable voice actors such as Amelia Tyler, Kevin Afghani, Melissa Medina, Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge, Alpha Takahashi, and Ben Starr.

Warframe is a free-to-play action game that has been played by over 80+ million registered players across multiple console and mobile platforms.
