Gaijin Entertainment has announced that the "Hornet’s Sting" update for the military online shooter War Thunder will be released in mid-March. This update will bring significant visual improvements to three iconic maps and introduce dozens of new military vehicles, including the F/A-18 fighter jet, Hopkins Mk.I light tank, and HMS Warspite battleship.

The F/A-18 Hornet is a highly versatile and widely used carrier-based fighter jet that has been featured in various military conflicts and popular culture. The Hornet’s Sting update will add American F/A-18A and F/A-18C variants, as well as the Finnish F/A-18C, each with unique weapons and combat systems.

The Hopkins Mk.I light tank, also known as the Harry Hopkins, was designed to improve armor protection over its predecessor, the Mk VII Tetrarch. It boasts 38 mm of armor on the turret and hull, and its fast-firing 40 mm cannon can penetrate up to 89 mm of armor.

In addition to these new vehicles, the Hornet’s Sting update will overhaul the Advance to the Rhine, Sinai, and Jungle maps, enhancing their visuals and gameplay. These improvements include updated models, textures, vegetation, and decorative elements, as well as gameplay adjustments to ensure balanced terrain traversal.

Gaijin Entertainment is a developer and publisher of various online games, including War Thunder, Crossout, Enlisted, CRSED: F.O.A.D., and Star Conflict. War Thunder is a free-to-play, cross-platform military game that allows players to engage in air, land, and sea battles with over 2000 playable aircraft, armored vehicles, and ships from the 1900s to the 2010s.
