This collaboration marks a significant shift in IP integration, focusing on the potential of user-generated content (UGC) platforms to connect brands and IP owners with highly engaged fanbases. Spaceport's technology enables IP owners like Toei to license HYPERGALACTIC to multiple game developers and content creators simultaneously, increasing the variety of content available to users and providing more opportunities for the brand to connect with fans.
Le Zhang, Spaceport's CEO, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it would merge anime with virtual worlds and empower communities to create limitless, engaging, and revenue-driving content. Roblox and Fortnite, with over 80 million users, are more than just games; they are ecosystems where users interact, create, and share experiences. By enabling broader licensing across these platforms, Spaceport and Toei Animation aim to recognize the power of combining anime IP with popular builders, creators, and influencers in UGC fan communities.
Yoshi Ikezawa, Head of International Co-Production at Toei Animation, emphasized the significance of this partnership, which would bring HYPERGALACTIC to life in ways that engage and inspire fans. The collaboration highlights the potential of UGC platforms to revolutionize entertainment and fan engagement.
Spaceport, founded in 2022, is dedicated to connecting brands and agencies with a global network of creators and developers, enabling IP owners to unlock new revenue streams and enhance fan engagement. Toei Animation, established in 1956, has produced over 13,000 episodes of TV series and more than 250 long feature films, including Mazinger Z, Dragon Ball series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series, and One Piece.
