In December 2020, game developer Pete Morrish was contacted by a Minotaur named Humbert from the sideworld of Liminalia. Humbert needed help as the Gym Between, a once-great gym, was in ruins, and he needed to win gold in Workout Challenges to regain his fitness. To train in Liminalia, Humbert needed Sweat, which he could only earn by exercising in the human world. To help Humbert and build his own healthy habits, Pete created a pocket portal to the fitness multiverse and turned it into an iPhone game.

Two years later, in February 2025, Threkka was released in the UK App Store, with a worldwide release to follow. Threkka is a single-player fitness-hacking, gym-building, train-'em-up game that helps players build healthy habits. It uses free-to-play mechanics and integrates with Apple's HealthKit to work alongside whatever players already use, such as Apple Watch, fitness apps, personal trainers, or other fitness games.

Players start with just a Cardboard Box and the will to train. As they work out in real life, they earn Sweat, which Humbert needs to train in Liminalia. Together, they unlock new equipment, upgrade existing stuff, complete Workout Challenges, recruit new members, and gradually transform the ruined Gym Between into a thriving fitness hub. As players grow healthier, fitter, and stronger, so do their Champs, a cast of misunderstood folklore baddies looking for their own shot at redemption.

Threkka features a cast of Champs, nine types of gym equipment, interdimensional PhaseTime calls, an increasingly irked Unicorn called Ray, joyful, human-centered design, a true-to-life fitness model, and gophers. Players can download Threkka on the UK App Store, watch the gameplay trailer, sneak peek behind the scenes, and visit the Threkka website. They can also follow Threkka on Instagram and join the Threkka Discord.

Pete Morrish, a 25-year games dev veteran, is the founder of Chock Hoss. He used his background in psychology and animal behavior to fuel his own self-driven journey from couch potato
