Mother Gaia Studio, an indie game developer from Brazil, has announced that their game The Posthumous Investigation will be showcased at LudoNarraCon 2024. The studio has also revealed that the game will be launched in Q4 2024, and a playable demo is available on Steam.

The Posthumous Investigation is a noir-inspired murder mystery game set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1937. The game combines point-and-click puzzles, time-loop mechanics, and visual novel storytelling to offer a unique gaming experience. Players will take on the role of a detective hired to solve the mysterious death of Brás Cubas, a wealthy aristocrat. However, the twist is that the detective is trapped in a time loop until the truth is revealed.

The game features a non-linear narrative with multiple endings, morally ambiguous characters, and a conspiracy-laden plot. The time-loop mechanic allows players to learn the routines of suspects and events in the city, which they can use to their advantage. The game is inspired by the literary works of the great Brazilian novelist, Machado de Assis, and features suspects inspired by his characters.
