Indie Game Pc Games Early Access Virtual Reality Gaming Role Playing GameSpreadCheat, a puzzle game developed by Norwegian indie studio Games People Play, is now available on Steam. The game, which is inspired by Excel and set in the corporate world of the 90s, challenges players to manipulate financial spreadsheets to meet shady directives and cover up office antics. It features a single-player campaign with dozens of puzzles, as well as side tasks and a daily challenge.
SpreadCheat features a retro Windows 3.11 aesthetic, complete with a 256-color palette, pixel-perfect UI elements, and a tense MIDI background track. The game also includes a helpful (yet somehow annoying) Clippy-esque assistant named Corpy.
The game has received positive reviews from the press, with critics praising its unique concept and humor. It is currently available for PC on Steam with a 20% discount on its $6.99 USD price.
Games People Play is an indie developer founded by Jack Kristoffersen and Joachim Barrum. The team includes veteran talent and new blood, and they have previously worked on games such as Daze Before Christmas, Sega Extreme Sports, and Project IGI. For SpreadCheat, they also collaborated with artist Simon Nyhus, composer/audio designer Eirik Johansen, and writer David Skaufjord.
Overall, SpreadCheat offers a fresh and humorous take on puzzle games, challenging players to use their numerical skills and corporate savvy to succeed in the world of 90s finance.
