Folklore Games, an indie game developer from Montreal, Canada, has announced that their narrative-adventure game, Spiral, will be self-published and released on STEAM, EPIC, and XBOX in September 2024. The game tells the story of Bernard Penfield, an introverted writer who is experiencing cognitive degeneration. Players will explore Bernard's memories at different stages of his life, meeting diverse characters from his family and friends.

As the cognitive degeneration becomes more present, it will affect the environment, dialogue, and music in the game. However, exploring his memories thoroughly may help Bernard hold onto details for longer and share things that might otherwise be lost. The game aims to open a discussion about grief and cognitive degeneration, helping people to see the person behind the sickness and addressing the loneliness of the condition.

Spiral will be available for purchase on STEAM at 23.99$ USD, and players can pick up a free demo and add the game to their wishlist. Following its PC and Xbox release, the game will also be available for purchase on PS5 and SWITCH at a later date. Assets and gameplay footage can be found on the Folklore Games website and YouTube channel. Folklore Games is passionate about crafting emotive games and stories with unique perspectives that stay with the player long after they finish the game.
