Keen Software House has released the Alpha version of Space Engineers 2, now available on Steam Early Access. The game features a Creative Mode set in the asteroid cluster of the Almagest system, where players can build and experiment with advanced tools. The 25cm unified grid system allows for precise construction, while new blueprint tools and powerful building tools offer more freedom to create.

In the Alpha, players become a lone space engineer, free to build, create, and destroy as they see fit. The 25cm unified grid system enables accurate building, while new blueprint tools like snap-to-grid, partial copy/paste, and toolbar assignments make construction easier. Powerful building tools, such as the voxel hand, symmetry tools, line/plane building, a flexible paint tool, and grid undo/redo, offer more creative possibilities.

The game is powered by the updated VRAGE3 engine, delivering enhanced creation and destruction in a sandbox environment. Improved mounting point visualization, grid lines, and upgraded system controls ensure seamless design and mobility. The redesigned UI/UX makes building more intuitive for both newcomers and experienced players.

Space Engineers 2 features next-level visuals, including ray-traced global illumination, realistic shadows, a new skybox, tessellated voxel materials, and parallax effects for armor. The game will also receive a full narrative with an exciting story campaign, featuring human NPCs, AI-driven vessels, and factions that bring the Almagest System to life.

The roadmap includes the introduction of a UGC Workshop, advanced modding tools, explorable planets, survival mode, volumetric water, multiplayer, NPCs, and a story campaign. Keen Software House will continue to support Space Engineers, with a new update for SE1 adding more PvE content and refreshments for Cargo Ships. Space Engineers 2 is now available on Steam Early Access, alongside the Pioneer Edition, which includes the game's soundtrack, exclusive wallpapers, and behind-the-scenes materials.
