Pc Games Indie Game Early Access Action Game Role Playing GameTobias Springer, the creator of the factory automation game shapez 2, has revealed plans for the game's full 1.0 launch, targeting November 2025. The update will feature highly anticipated elements such as Steam achievements, modding support, and a new game mode that could become the primary gameplay experience.
The new game mode aims to provide a more permanent factory-building experience by ensuring that early shapes remain relevant in later stages, addressing the puzzle-like nature of the current version. However, the original mode will still be available as the "classic" option.
Modding tools will be introduced in the 1.0 release, and the team is already engaging with the modding community to ensure high-quality content at launch. Achievements will also be included, fulfilling a long-standing community request.
Legacy savegames from the current mode will not carry over to 1.0 but will remain accessible via a dedicated Steam branch, allowing players to continue working on their factories. Blueprint compatibility will be maintained across versions, and the classic game mode will be available alongside the new one.
The game, shapez 2, is a top-down factory-building game where you extract and process geometric shapes, with 3D visuals and a visually appealing space setting. Its predecessor, shapez, was a successful 2D factory-building and automation game. Shapez 2 has sold over 540,000 units on Steam and maintains a 98% positive review rating.
Tobias Springer, the developer, founded tobspr Games in 2018, initially focusing on webgames before shifting to factory/automation games on Steam. Shapez 2 is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action as part of the federal government's computer games funding.
