SCUM Leaves Early Access on June 19th with Major Update

Gamepires' open-world survival simulation game, SCUM, will be exiting Steam Early Access on June 19th, 2025, with a new update that includes significant graphical improvements and new gameplay features. SCUM, a brutal PvPvE survival experience, has been in development for 10 years and has received 258 updates since its Early Access launch in 2018.

Set in a dense forested island with picturesque beaches, serene fields, abandoned towns, and rundown airfields, SCUM challenges players to survive against other players, undead prisoners, colossal mechs, and armed NPCs. The game's 1.0 update will feature a full map rework, including a major graphical overhaul, new and returning vehicles, and major improvements to anti-cheat.

SCUM has been a success since its Early Access launch, selling over 3 million copies and consistently featuring in Steam's 100 most played games. The game has also won numerous critical awards. Gamepires, founded in 2010 and based in Zagreb, Croatia, is a game development studio best known for SCUM.

In SCUM, players take on the role of a maximum-security prisoner under the watchful eye of the TEC1 corporation. They must use strategic planning, resource management, and adaptability to explore the island's terrain, loot and craft their way to dominance, and fight for their survival. With up to 64 players per server, SCUM is a hardcore online survival simulation experience that is not for the faint-hearted.
