The survival game, Ruins to Fortress, has announced its biggest update yet, set to release on July 4, 2025. This free-to-play game on Steam will introduce new biomes, decorative items, underground bunkers, and a complete overhaul of the building system in version 0.5.0.

The New Horizons update brings procedurally generated maps with a revamped biome system, featuring eight distinct biomes, from icy tundras to scorching deserts, and a customizable map size. The Homestead update offers 20 new decorative items, including functional clocks, light sources, houseplants, and a working radio, allowing players to personalize their bases.

Underground bunkers and destructible NPC bases have been added for daring players to explore and raid, with valuable loot as a reward. The building system has been redesigned with snap-to-grid functionality, visible snap points, and a reworked clan manager. The update also includes a minimap, displaying other clan members, beds, last death location, biome, and monument locations.

Ruins to Fortress supports dedicated servers and self-hosting, with an expected Early Access duration of approximately 12 months. The game will offer a single optional DLC, including skins and backwall tiles, and will be the only DLC released. The game will not include any in-game currencies.

Ruins to Fortress is a free-to-play open-world survival craft game with pixel graphics, multiplayer, crafting, base building, PvP, and PvE elements.
