German indie studio Zockrates Laboratories and US publisher Phiphen Games have announced that the much-anticipated release of the hand-drawn 3D platformer, Ruffy and the Riverside, is set for June 26th, 2025. The game will be available on PC (Steam & Epic Games), PlayStation 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

Ruffy and the Riverside is a unique platformer that features a SWAP mechanic, allowing players to copy and paste textures in the world to solve puzzles and help the inhabitants of Riverside. The game has already received praise from critics, who have called it "one of the best platformers of 2025."

Players can ride haybales around the open world, discover hidden secrets, and gather various collectables. The Nintendo Switch release date trailer has been released, and the game is now available for wishlisting on the Nintendo eShop. Codes for review will be sent out at the start of June, and those interested in reviewing the game can submit their request via a form link.

Ruffy and the Riverside allows players to wield the magic power of SWAP, using it to copy and paste elements in the game world, turning ice into lava or waterfalls into vines. The game features seven outer regions, each with unique challenges and settings, and more than a dozen characters, each with quests to complete. Players can also create and apply custom textures to elements like stone, waterfalls, and more, using dreamstones.

Zockrates Laboratories, the developer, is a team of artists, programmers, and musicians from Nuremberg, Germany, who love video games. Phiphen Games, the publisher, was founded by award-winning producer Molly Conners and aims to publish cutting-edge and unique properties from the most exciting developers, spanning all genres and budget levels to reach a global audience. Ruffy and the Riverside is the company's debut title, and it will be published in Asia by H2 Interactive Co., Ltd.
