Apogee Entertainment and Fuzzy Sock Studios have announced that their sci-fi horde survival shooter, Rising Heat, will be launching on Windows PC via Steam in Q1 2025. The game takes place in the Rising Heat tournament, a gladiator-style spaceship competition backed by wealthy extraterrestrial elites. Players start with a single ship and pilot, and must navigate through waves of relentless enemy robots to unlock new ships and pilots with different strengths.

Rising Heat features a dynamic movement system that allows players to dodge and barrel-roll across the map, as well as more than 60 upgrades to customize their ship build. Players can choose from a variety of weapons, each with their own distinctive starting attributes and passive abilities, and experiment with different combinations to find their preferred playstyle. The game also features multi-stage boss battles with complex attack patterns, as well as a cooperative multiplayer mode inspired by Atari's Space Duel.

According to Ronnie Lusso, Project Lead for Fuzzy Sock Studios, "Rising Heat empowers commanders to experiment with an unimaginable amount of interchangeable builds to absolutely annihilate mobs of challenging creatures and dangerous bosses." The game is being developed by Fuzzy Sock Studios, an indie studio based in Massachusetts, and will be published by Apogee Entertainment, a company with a long history of supporting indie developers and releasing successful games.
