Pc Games Role Playing Game Sony Playstation Nintendo Switch Action Game Early Access Indie GameThe classic side-scrolling shooter game, Rendering Ranger™: R² [Rewind], is set to be released digitally on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles on March 20, 2025. The game has been preserved and emulated using the Carbon Engine from Limited Run Games, following its original release in Japan on Super Famicom in 1995.
One of the key features of the game is the "Rewind" function, which allows players to rewind and try again, making the notoriously fast levels more accessible while keeping the challenge. The game follows the titular Rendering Ranger, a special forces soldier, as he defends Earth from an alien invasion.
In addition to the Rewind feature, Rendering Ranger™: R² [Rewind] also includes an optional CRT filter, allowing players to experience the game as it was originally designed. The game also features an unreleased prototype called Targa and the Japan-only release Rendering Ranger: R².
The digital version of the game will be available on Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4|5, and Nintendo Switch. A physical version of the game is available for pre-order in Standard and Armageddon Editions from Limited Run Games.
The game is published by Ziggurat Interactive, who has also released a press kit for the game. More information about Ziggurat Interactive, its current lineup, and upcoming announcements can be found on Bluesky, Facebook, X (Twitter), Twitch, Instagram, and the company’s official website.
