The new campaign mode is an extensive addition to the game, featuring missions that can be played alongside daily missions at the player's own pace. Custom player tags are now available for players who become Phoenix 2 VIPs, allowing them to customize their entry on the leaderboards. Game controller support has also been added, making the game fully playable using a modern game pad.
Other improvements include the addition of a timer when speedrunning missions, the ability to show veteranancy on the pilot screen, and updated portrait images for characters.
