SEGA's free-to-play online action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis (PSO2: NGS), has collaborated with the popular anime Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The collaboration offers players a variety of in-game items such as avatar items, weapon camo, and chat stamps. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which has gained a large following with over 22 million copies in circulation. The anime adaptation of the manga has also been well-received, with a second season confirmed to be in production.

PSO2: NGS is set 1,000 years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2 and features new and improved action combat and character customization. Players can explore sprawling open environments, take on boss fights, and engage in battles with the DOLLS, all while playing with friends on multiple platforms thanks to cross-platform play.
