Tokyo-based game developer NatsumeAtari has recently released an update for the Steam Early Access version of Penny Blood: Hellbound, the action-roguelite spinoff of the RPG, Penny Blood. This update introduces several new features, including an online multiplayer mode called the Dimensional Rift. This mode allows up to four players to team up and battle waves of monsters from various parts of Mictlan in a unique adventure.

The update also introduces a new area, Area 4 'Otherworldly Laboratory,' which features new enemies and a challenging new boss. Players can now unlock secondary base weapons for each of the five playable characters at the Forbidden Trapdoor blacksmith facility, providing a fresh battle style for each character.

Two new NPCs, Nihila and Sabnack, will be discoverable in Area 4 and will join the hideout to aid players. Additionally, two new Buddies (AI-controlled dungeon NPCs) named Dosetsu Igarashi and Jane Toppan are now unlockable to fight alongside players.

The update also includes new blood surfing attacks for ranged characters, new side quests and cutscenes, enhanced AI functionality for Buddies, gameplay and UI adjustments, and various bug fixes. The full release of Penny Blood: Hellbound is scheduled for Fall 2024, and players can check out the Road Map for more details on upcoming content and features.

Penny Blood: Hellbound is available for purchase on the Steam Store page, and players can access the press kit, Penny Blood homepage, Penny Blood on X, Studio Wildrose, NatsumeAtari, and TTS websites for more information about the game.
