Morteshka, the studio behind Black Book and The Mooseman, has announced that its upcoming folk horror adventure, One-Eyed Likho, will be released on Steam on July 28, 2025. The game is based on the Slavic tale of The One-Eyed Likho and is set in a grim corner of 19th-century Russia. Players will navigate through dense forests and decaying cottages in search of Likho, the one-eyed embodiment of misfortune, in a first-person horror adventure.

The game features story-focused exploration, unique greyscale visuals, and a burn mechanic that allows players to use matches to light their path and solve fire-driven puzzles. As players delve deeper into the game, they will uncover hidden truths and piece together the full story. The curse that haunts the player grows stronger as time runs out and Likho draws nearer.

Morteshka released a new trailer alongside the release date announcement, offering a deeper look into the dark and mysterious setting of One-Eyed Likho. Players can expect a unique visual experience, with detailed greyscale graphics that capture the atmosphere of the Slavic fairy-tale.

Morteshka is a small indie studio based in Perm, Russia, that draws inspiration from mythology and folklore to create narratives and worlds grounded in historical facts. Their debut game, The Mooseman, was released in 2017, followed by Black Book in 2021.

One-Eyed Likho promises to be a compelling addition to the folk horror genre, with its unique setting, story-driven gameplay, and atmospheric visuals. Fans of Morteshka's previous games and horror adventure enthusiasts alike will not want to miss out on this game when it launches on Steam on July 28, 2025.
