Indie developer Nullpointer Games has announced that their upcoming game, The Horror at Highrook, is being supported by indie game development fund OuterSloth. OuterSloth, founded by successful developer InnerSloth in June of this year, is already funding several projects, including those by the creators of Venba, Thirsty Suitors, and I Am Your Beast.

The Horror at Highrook is a Cosmic Horror Narrative RPG being developed by Nullpointer Games, founded by Tom Betts, who has over a decade of experience in the indie scene. His last game, 'Into the Pit', was published by Humble Games in 2021. Betts expressed his excitement about partnering with OuterSloth, stating that it's reassuring to see successful indies re-investing in their own field, especially during a time of instability in the industry.

The Horror at Highrook is inspired by board games, wikis, ghost stories, and escape rooms. Players take on the role of investigators exploring a haunted manor to uncover the fate of a missing family. The game features arcane notes, lore, and occult nightmares. A demo is available on Steam, and a private beta is planned for next month, with a release set for 2025.

Nullpointer Games is run by Tom Betts, a designer and programmer with experience on games such as "Sir, You are being Hunted", "The Signal from Tolva", and "Into the Pit". Betts had initially hoped to grow the studio for larger projects, but the recent instability in the industry forced him to pivot to his indie roots and work on a long-held passion project.
