Hardwired Studios, an indie game development studio from Finland, has announced the release of their new game, Neural Shock. The game is a 2D sci-fi Tower Defense / ARPG hybrid with pixel-art graphics and a heavy metal soundtrack. Neural Shock is now available worldwide on PC via Steam.

In Neural Shock, players must defend the world from bloodthirsty clones by using an array of turrets, traps, weapons, and their own wits. Players can choose from different character classes, each with unique playstyles and over 20 different weapons. The game combines classic Tower Defense mechanics with elements of action RPGs, set in a dark, futuristic sci-fi world.

Neural Shock features engaging Tower Defense puzzles, class-based character and team building, and visceral pixel-art violence. Players can choose from two different classes, Sniper and Engineer, and specialize in various weapon, turret, and trap masteries. The game offers a variety of ways to dispose of enemies, with pixel-art graphics that don't shy away from showing blood and gore.

The game's storyline takes place in 2304, where a scientific research corporation named CyTech revolutionized warfare by integrating artificial neural networks into humans. However, one generation of soldiers experienced rapid mutations, leading to a new race of hostile clones. Players, as part of a private military contractor, are tasked with infiltrating CyTech's main research facility to eliminate the clones and stop their production.

Neural Shock is intended for mature audiences and contains violence, blood, and gore in pixel-art form. The game is now available on Steam, and more information can be found on the Hardwired Studios website.
