Pc Games Early Access Indie Game Action Game Role Playing GameIndie developer Round Toast Studios has announced the release of their debut title, Mortal Rite, an action-packed crossover between a Souls-like and Roguelike game. The game is now available on PC via Steam Early Access for $24.99 USD/£19.99 GBP/€24.99 EUR with a limited-time 5% launch discount. Mortal Rite features a fast, action-based melee combat system, a variety of characters with unique lore and abilities, and both solo and co-op multiplayer options with a maximum party size of 5.
During the Early Access period, Round Toast Studios plans to deliver frequent game optimizations and content updates as part of the development roadmap leading to the eventual V1.0 launch. Mortal Rite offers evolving combat and progression, with ability points and items scattered throughout the world to unlock new strategies. Players can customize their playstyle by spending ability points in the refuge and trading items between players. Each area is guarded by a gatekeeper, and when defeated, players can revisit the area for an additional challenge with updated maps, new enemy compositions, and new items.
Mortal Rite features unique characters with two built-in play-styles through the stance system, and player customization through ability swaps, ability upgrades, and items. Multiplayer is available at the start of the game, and alternate enemies and layouts will appear during multiplayer. The combat system emphasizes breaking enemy posture to interrupt attacks, with fast, responsive melee combat and different attacks for each character. Players can adapt to different enemies by utilizing unique sprinting, dodging, and air attacks, and counter attacks with each character's specialty of parrying, deflecting, or blocking.
Mortal Rite features a variety of aggressive enemies, each with different methods of taking the player down. Factions influence fights, with factions being hostile to each other, allowing players to force enemies to fight each other instead. Mortal Rite is developed by Round Toast Studios and is now available for PC via Steam Early Access. Follow Mortal Rite's development journey via the official social media channels and at
