Mobile Gaming Updates: Persona 5 Spin-off, Wild Rift's Revenue Spike, and New Events in CoD Mobile

GameRefinery, a part of Liftoff company, has recently released a report analyzing the mobile gaming market in the US, China, and Japan for April 2024. The report highlights notable updates in each country, including new game releases, live events, and other significant updates.

In China, SEGA and Atlus' popular JRPG series Persona launched a mobile spin-off called Persona 5: The Phantom X, which was developed by Perfect World. The game features new characters and is monetized through a gacha system. It peaked at 18 and 13 in the top-grossing and download charts, respectively.

League of Legends: Wild Rift promoted a new skin collection, Calligraphia, through the game's first-ever Top Up event and a limited-time gacha. This resulted in a massive spike in daily revenue in the US of over 1800%.

Happy Fishing Master, a fishing game, has been at the top of the download charts in China since its launch. Unlike other popular "casino-fishing" titles, Happy Fishing Master is a "real" fishing game that lets players catch over 200 types of aquatic creatures.

Call of Duty: Mobile introduced a new HQ area, addressing the issue of disconnected seasons. Warzone Mobile ramped up its monetization by introducing gachas two weeks after its launch.

Two mobile titles, Stumble Guys and Angry Birds 2, celebrated Earth Day with limited-time gachas and reskinned events.

Gossip Harbor, a casual game, introduced a collection event into its LiveOps framework, while State of Survival, a 4X strategy game, launched a similar card collection event.

GameRefinery's platform uses unique algorithms and expert analysts to help developers, investors, and publishers understand the drivers behind successful mobile games. The company's customers include leading mobile games companies such as Zynga, Wargaming, King, and FunPlus.
