MINTROCKET's Hwang Named as CEO of New Independent Corporation

MINTROCKET, a subsidiary of Nexon Korea, will operate independently with a focus on creating small-scale, highly innovative games for global audiences. Jaeho Hwang, the current head of the MINTROCKET division, has been nominated as the first CEO of the new corporation.
MINTROCKET, which was launched in 2022 as a sub-brand of Nexon, has quickly made a name for itself with its unique approach to game development that emphasizes speed, creativity, and fun. The studio's first game, "DAVE THE DIVER," was released in 2023 and became a global hit, surpassing four million cumulative sales and winning the design category of the BAFTA Game Awards 2024. The game has also maintained an "overwhelmingly positive" rating on Steam.
NEXON Co., Ltd., founded in 1994, is engaged in the production, development, and operation of online games. The company has more than 45 live games in more than 190 countries on PC, console, and mobile, including popular franchises such as MapleStory, KartRider, and Dungeon&Fighter. In 2021, Nexon completed the acquisition of Embark Studios AB, a Stockholm-based company developing multiple projects for global release.
The new corporate structure for MINTROCKET is expected to strengthen its independent culture, allowing for faster decision-making and simplified business procedures. This move will enable MINTROCKET to continue its rapid development of highly innovative games while maintaining its unique approach to game development.
