Dotemu and Leikir Studio have released a new video showcasing Metal Slug Tactics, a tactical RPG adaptation of the arcade gaming classic. The game is set to launch this fall on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The video, titled "Metal Slug Tactics - A New Angle," features Leikir Studio members reminiscing about their childhood experiences playing the series in smoke-filled arcades. The team shares a deep love for the Metal Slug universe and aims to pass it on to both new and old fans with the help of Dotemu.

Metal Slug Tactics features isometric combat, a departure from the series' traditional side-scrolling gameplay. This change affects both the gameplay and visuals, with Leikir Studio collaborating with the original pixel artists to create detailed, stunning, and vibrant graphics. The video also highlights the introduction of new elements, such as tactical dimensions, randomization for replayability, skill trees, and progression reminiscent of roguelite games.

Iconic Metal Slug characters return with unique abilities that capture their personalities and offer distinct combat approaches. New mechanics, like synchronized attacks that reward strategic troop placement, and a home base that functions as an armory, seamlessly translate the classic run-and-gun gameplay into the new tactical RPG genre.

Metal Slug Tactics is a vibrant tribute and bold new approach to a historic video game license, featuring stunning pixel art and intricate animations. Levels are randomly generated, adding a roguelite dimension to the dynamic and strategic combat system.
