Pc Games Indie Game Action Game Early Access Free To Play Role Playing GameOn January 18th, 2025, developer Prof. Maximilian Scherer and publisher PlayWay released version 1.0 of the programming puzzle game JOY OF PROGRAMMING. The game, which uses real Python code to automate and control machines, robots, and drones, was offered at a 30% discount along with a Daily Deal feature on the Steam store.
Prof. Scherer, a computer science professor with a PhD, is also a passionate gamer who enjoys integrating game-based learning techniques into his teaching. In JOY OF PROGRAMMING, players can build their coding skills by solving a variety of programming challenges, including automating logistics, stabilizing robots, writing navigation code for cars, cracking passwords, accurately controlling sniper rifles, and applying computer vision to guide missiles.
Prof. Scherer started his own solo venture in 2022 to develop games that combine programming mechanics with crafty, buildy strategy. His debut title, JOY OF PROGRAMMING, was released in 2024 and left Early Access on January 18th. He is currently working on his second title, Card Coder, a card-building roguelike where players create their own cards.
