Indie Game Awards Debut: Celebrating Excellence in Indie Gaming

The Indie Game Awards (IGAs), an inaugural awards-only event dedicated to celebrating indie gaming excellence, is set to take place on December 19th, 2024. The IGAs will honor outstanding achievements in various categories, such as innovation, storytelling, and artistry, within the indie scene.

The IGAs are built on collaboration, uniting games media, content creators, showcases, game development, and developers to celebrate indie games' creativity and contributions. Presenters for the ceremony include representatives from Black Salt Games, Raw Fury, Wishes Unlimited, Yacht Club Games, Toge Productions, and InnerSloth.

Nominees for the IGAs were selected by a curation jury, including Six One Indie, Women-Led Games, Latin American Games Showcase, Wholesome Games, Dames-4-Games, The Indie Informer, MinnMax, and other prominent indie voices. The judging committee includes Giant Bomb, IGDA, Wanderbots, AshSaidHi, Playcrafting, and others.

The IGAs will be live-streamed on IGN.com, IGN and Six One Indie YouTube channels, the official IGAs website, and a dedicated Steam event page from December 19th-23rd. Replays will be available on the official IGAs website and YouTube via IGN and Six One Indie.

The 2024 IGA Game of the Year nominees include 1000xRESIST, Animal Well, ARCO, Balatro, Crypt Custodian, Lorlei and the Laser Eyes, Mouthwashing, Neva, Nine Sols, and UFO 50.

The IGAs aim to spotlight the most compelling and groundbreaking indie titles worldwide, with developers at the forefront. The event is organized by Six One Indie, a collective focused on amplifying indie games through showcase spotlights and in-depth commentary.
