Virtual Reality Gaming Indie Game Pc Games Role Playing Game Early Access

Signal Space Lab and Actrio Studio have released their collaborative multimedia sci-fi interactive VR project, Human Within, on Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro, with a SteamVR release planned for the near future. Human Within is a unique VR experience that delves into the significant impact of AI and advanced technology on society, highlighting the potential dangers of its misuse.

Directed by Avi Winkler and Anne Weigel, Human Within follows Nyla and Linh, cyber engineers at Forward Industries, who develop a groundbreaking supercomputer by utilizing the human brain's processing power. When Nyla decides to distance herself from the project, both sisters are detained, forcing them to continue their work amidst suspicions about their employer's covert objectives. Nyla's daring escape plan involves connecting the technology to Linh, using it in the same way she feared it would be misused.

Human Within combines a thrilling branching storyline with video game playability, offering players a distinctive interactive experience. The project features user involvement, point cloud interactivity, choice and consequence, and a unique blend of three distinct visual styles.

Signal Space Lab began pre-production in 2019, with scriptwriting and prototyping under the creative direction of Avi Winkler. Principal photography was completed in December 2023, and Human Within premiered at FIVARS in Toronto on October 3rd, 2024, and Beyond The Frame Festival in Tokyo on October 25th-27th, 2024. The project is supported by Meta, Canada Media Fund, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and Filmstiftung NRW Germany.

Human Within aims to push the boundaries of interactive narrative VR experiences, allowing users to participate in the story's outcome. The project is now available on Meta Quest and will soon be released on SteamVR.
