Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.4 Update Unveils New Characters & Events

On July 2, 2025, HoYoverse announced the release of Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.4 update, "For the Sun is Set to Die." This update introduces Phainon, Saber, and Archer as playable characters, each with unique backgrounds and combat styles. The story continues as the Trailblazer and Phainon return the final Coreflame to the Vortex of Genesis, uncovering truths that may shape the destiny of the universe.
Phainon, born in Aedes Elysiae, is a key ally joining the Trailblazer's team. His Ultimate, "Territory," transforms him in battle, increasing combat power and altering abilities. In Penacony, the Trailblazer is invited to a Holy Grail War, where seven participants summon historical figures as Servants. Familiar names and three legendary Heroic Spirits will appear as contestants, including Saber and Archer.
Saber, a 5-star Wind-type character, utilizes the Path of Destruction and wields the Ultimate "Excalibur." Archer, a Quantum-type character following the Path of the Hunt, specializes in single-target damage and activates "Unlimited Blade Works" with his Ultimate. Archer will be available as a free 5-star character for limited-time events.
Version 3.4 brings back popular characters, enhancements for familiar faces, and the debut of Firefly's new outfit. The "skip dialogue" feature and "Origami Bird" minigame are also included in this update. Honkai: Star Rail is available on PC, iOS, Android, Epic Games Store, and PS5, having received numerous awards and recognitions.
