German Computer Game Awards 2024: Nominees Announced

The nominees for the German Computer Game Awards 2024 have been announced, with 27 games and prototypes competing in 15 categories. The prize money for the awards totals 800,000 euros. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of representatives from the games industry, science, culture, media, and politics, and will be announced at an award ceremony in Munich on April 18, 2024.

The "Best International Game" category recognizes the best game outside of Germany and includes Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The "Best German Game" category, endowed with 100,000 euros for the winner and 30,000 euros each for the two other nominees, includes Atlas Fallen, EVERSPACE 2, and Fall of Porcupine.

Other categories include Best Family Game, Newcomer Award – Best Debut, Best Innovation and Technology, Best Serious Game, Best Audio Design, Best Game Design, Best Graphic Design, Best Mobile Game, Best Story, Studio of the Year, Player of the Year, and Special Jury Award.

The German Computer Game Awards have been presented annually since 2009 and aim to honor the best computer and video games of the year from Germany based on aspects such as quality, innovative content, fun to play, and cultural and educational appeal. The award ceremony is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs.
