Gamecity Hamburg's 2025 Prototype Funding: Up to 80,000 Euros for Game Developers

Pc Games Indie Game Free To PlayGamecity Hamburg, a division of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, has announced the opening of its Prototype Funding program for 2025. The program offers funding for the development of digital games to founders, start-ups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in or moving to Hamburg. A total of 400,000 euros is available, with individual projects eligible for up to 80,000 euros, covering up to 80 percent of eligible costs.
The application process includes a mandatory consultation with Gamecity Hamburg and a "Diversity Checklist" as part of the application. The awarding committee, consisting of industry professionals, will review the applications and invite selected applicants to pitch their projects.
Previous recipients of the Prototype Funding have achieved success, with several games nominated or winning awards at the German Computer Game Award and the German Developer Award.
Gamecity Hamburg also offers the Games Lift Incubator, an annual program supporting five teams with 15,000 euros in start-up funding, coaching, mentoring, and workshops. The application phase for Games Lift 2025 will run from May 2 to June 10.
