Midjiwan, the developer of the award-winning game The Battle of Polytopia, has announced the launch of Game Town, Stockholm's first coworking space for game developers. The new hub will also serve as a base for Toppluva AB, Warm Kitten AB, Gro Play AB, and Dataspelsbranschen, Sweden's trade association for video game companies.

The Swedish games industry generated SEK 86.5 billion (USD $7.9 billion) in 2022, accounting for over 4 percent of Sweden's total service exports. Game Town aims to become a creative, innovative, and social meeting place, further solidifying Stockholm as a key games industry hub.

Game Town is located in Södermalm, an island with one of the highest concentrations of game developers in the world. The area is home to companies such as Paradox, DICE, Fatshark, and Epic Games. The new hub will offer workspace hire for smaller game studios with big ambitions, fostering a community of game developers who share the same passion for gaming and game development.

Christian Lövstedt, General Manager at Midjiwan, said, "Game Town will become a professional and playful environment for smaller game studios that want to work and develop among other developers. We’re looking to create a community of people who share our same passion for gaming and game development."

Per Strömbäck, Chairman of Dataspelsbranschen, added, "Here, games are created for billions of players worldwide. Perhaps there is something in the Earth's magnetic field that makes local games particularly good? Game Town will be located right in the middle of this hub, so it is only right that our own office should be right here."

Game Town is located at Magnus Ladulåsgatan 65 and membership enquiries are now open. The hub is owned by property developer AMF Fastigheter.
