Stardock Entertainment has announced a major update for the space strategy game Galactic Civilizations IV, titled v3.0 Hyperlane Update, which will be available for free to all players on June 12, 2025. The update includes new features such as hyperlanes, fleet supply, and a user experience revamp. Hyperlanes are a new map generation feature that connects groups of stars, increasing unit speed between stars while maintaining free-form movement. Fleet supply is a new mechanic that decreases micromanagement and makes starship quality more distinct, with a civilization-wide fleet supply limit that can be increased through technology, events, and other mechanics. The user experience revamp includes hundreds of small updates and improvements, such as new high-resolution textures for ships and balance improvements to the new Civilization data screens. The Hyperlane Update is now available as a preview build on Steam, and the entire franchise is on sale on Steam to celebrate the announcement.
