The game, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter in just 24 hours, began as a Super Mario Bros. ROM hack intended as a birthday gift for the creator's sister. Echoes of the Unread follows the journey of Rhapsody, a young girl who wakes up in a world where books have come to life. To find her way back home, Rhapsody must explore various imaginative realms, befriend quirky characters, and use her voice to solve puzzles and battle foes. The game features a challenging retro mode and allows players to unlock magical abilities to aid them in their quest.

Echoes of the Unread is now available to back on Kickstarter, with orders expected to be fulfilled in February 2026.
