CCP Games, in partnership with Massively Multiplayer Online Science (MMOS), has launched Project Discovery: Phase Four in EVE Online, enabling players to contribute to cancer and immune system research. This phase expands the research focus of the initiative, which previously accelerated COVID-19 research through the participation of over 900,000 players.

In Project Discovery Phase Four, players can examine complex blood samples using new visualizations and techniques, increasing the quality of player results and supporting scientists in decoding immune system interactions with cancer. Exclusive in-game rewards are available for participants.

Key features of Phase Four include an expanded research focus on critical immune system diseases, enhanced minigame mechanics, more complex scientific challenges, and exclusive cosmetic rewards. Since 2020, Project Discovery has achieved significant milestones, including over 500 million citizen science games played and the development of two high-performing AI models.

Stakeholders, such as EVE Online's Creative Director, scientists from the BC Cancer Agency and University of British Columbia, and the CEO of Massively Multiplayer Online Science, have praised the initiative's impact and potential. Progress updates are available at the School of Computer Science at McGill University's website.

EVE Online, developed by CCP Games, is a free-to-play MMO where players can build spaceships, explore, and participate in various activities in a single thriving universe. CCP Games is known for its artistry, technology, and game design that facilitates emergent behavior, empowering players with compelling means of self-expression.
