Escape The Games, a family-run indie game studio, has released a demo for their upcoming sci-fi adventure puzzle game, Escape the Charon, on Steam. The full game is set to launch in Q2 2025. In Escape the Charon, players assume the role of James West, who must investigate a mysterious artifact brought aboard the space station Charon, which has suddenly gone dark.

The demo spans four areas: Phobos Starship Crew Quarters, Phobos Starship Bridge, Phobos-Charon Bridge, and Charon Outer Level 3A. To accommodate various player skill levels, Escape the Games has included three difficulty options and translated the game into 29 languages. Additionally, the team has implemented node-to-node movement to minimize motion sickness commonly associated with first-person gameplay.

Escape the Charon tells the story of an ancient alien artifact discovered on a dying planet at the edge of the galaxy. When an archaeological team uncovers the monolith, its unknown hieroglyphs send chills down their spines, raising questions about its origins. They enlist the help of Andrea West and her team on the Charon space station to decipher the mystery.

The game's protagonist, James West, receives a distress signal from his sister, Andrea, while on his way to Earth for a break. He immediately changes course for the Charon, determined to help his sister.

Escape The Games is a team of six, including Bandit the Dog, who proudly claims the role of boss. As a family, they enjoy playing escape room video games together and strive to create immersive experiences for players. Robert Stock, co-founder of Escape The Games, shared his excitement about the demo's release, emphasizing the care and thought the team put into every detail of the game.
