EGM Media LLC has announced the creation of a new book and companion website, "The Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium," which will honor the legacy of the influential video game magazine. The book will be filled with curated excerpts from the magazine, modern insights, and stories about the gaming landscape, and will be available for pre-order through a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign offers a special first edition of the book and exclusive backer rewards.

The EGM Compendium will span 320 pages and will chart the development of notable games, franchises, cultural shifts, and industry trends. The book will feature exclusive interviews and roundtables with EGM alumni, game developers, and influencers, as well as in-depth history and visually dynamic layout. The physical version of the book will be printed in full color on premium paper in a hardcover format.

The Kickstarter campaign offers a host of pledge rewards, including an exclusive edition of the book with a stylish slipcase, exclusive EGM-related goods, a print copy of the previously "lost" issue #237 of EGM, and the ultimate stretch goal of helping to fund a brand-new issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.

As a companion to the book, EGM Media is also announcing The EGM Compendium Digital Archive, which will allow readers to navigate and read every issue of EGM on the web. The digital archive will be hand-indexed and will allow readers to easily track coverage of topics or people across multiple issues of the magazine.

Electronic Gaming Monthly was a prominent magazine covering the second wave of console gaming and was known for its distinctive voice, informative but irreverent, opinionated but fair, deeply connected to the gaming industry but never beholden to it. The magazine ended its print run a decade ago, but it still holds a special place in the memory of its fans.
