Diverse Voices, New Stories: Winners of Games for Change Mobile Game Challenge Announced

Mobile Gaming Indie GameThe Diverse Voices, New Stories Challenge, a joint initiative by Games for Change, HP, and Google Play, announced the winners of its second annual event aimed at improving representation and visibility for underrepresented game developers in the mobile gaming industry. Four games from independent studios in the U.S., Europe, and Africa were recognized for their innovative stories, engaging gameplay, and real-world impact.
Games for Change also revealed that the third annual Challenge is now open for submissions, focusing on supporting creators in bringing existing games from other platforms to Android. Up to three winners will receive a $15,000 cash prize, guidance on porting their games to Android, and marketing opportunities.
The 2024 Challenge saw submissions from 24 countries across five continents. The winning game, "Button City" by Subliminal Gaming, was selected by a jury of industry experts for its impact, innovation, gameplay, and overall appeal. The winning team received a $10,000 cash prize, hardware from HP, mentorship, marketing support, and promotional support from Games for Change.
Games for Change provided learning and professional development opportunities for underrepresented creators, including a Game Design Sprint at the Games for Change Africa Festival. The Challenge's goal is to foster a more inclusive gaming community by supporting marginalized creators and amplifying their voices.
