Door 407, an independent game development studio, has announced the upcoming release of a free game, "Diplomacy is Not an Option: Shareware." The game is a base-building survival real-time strategy (RTS) set in a medieval fantasy world and is a precursor to the full version of "Diplomacy is Not an Option," set to release on October 4.

"Diplomacy is Not an Option: Shareware" features two story missions and an Endless Mode exclusive map layout. Players must develop their economy, build fortifications, and raise armies to defend against overwhelming enemy forces. The game boasts over 25,000 enemies that will assault the player's castle walls, with every arrow and catapult stone physically modeled for a tactile and coherent battlefield.

A functional economy is crucial for a successful army, and players must manage their resources carefully to meet the enemy in a timely manner. Gathering resources, planning expansions, and upgrades require strategic thinking to protect civilian expansions from hostile incursions.

In addition to traditional warfare, players can learn magic to trap the souls of fallen enemies, build magical monuments, and harvest soul crystals. Using spells can change the course of the battle, and players can freeze time by pausing the game.
