Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' Rebecca & Pilar Get Manga Prequel in 2023; Blu-ray Release in 2025

Pc Games Indie Game Role Playing Game Sony Playstation Microsoft XboxCD PROJEKT RED, the developer of the popular video game Cyberpunk 2077, has announced that the critically acclaimed anime adaptation, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is being turned into a manga prequel. The manga, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, will focus on the fan-favorite characters Rebecca and Pilar and will be released in a serialized format in several languages, including English, which will be published by Dark Horse.
The original anime, which premiered on Netflix in 2022 and was created in collaboration with studio TRIGGER, quickly became an international hit and garnered several awards, including Anime of the Year from the Anime Awards 2023. The anime is set in the universe of Cyberpunk 2077 and tells the standalone story of David Martinez, a street kid trying to survive in the technology and body modification-obsessed megalopolis of Night City.
The manga prequel, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, will follow the chaotic lives of Rebecca and Pilar before they joined David's crew. The siblings, who became fan favorites in the anime, grew up wreaking havoc in their path to become legendary edgerunners like their father. However, their daily routine in Night City is changed when the mysterious Safran interrupts their lives.
The manga will be released in a monthly serialized format in several languages, including Japanese, Polish, Italian, Spanish, German, French, and Traditional Chinese. The first chapter will be released on December 13th, except for Traditional Chinese, which will follow on December 20th. The English edition will be published in paperback volumes by Dark Horse.
In addition to the manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will also receive a Blu-ray edition, which will be available in 2025 in several territories, including Japan, the USA, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. The Blu-ray edition will allow fans to discover the standalone, ten-episode story of street kid David Martinez trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future in a physical format.
