In this game, the traditional random percentage chance to miss attacks is replaced with physics, making landing shots dependent on the player's skill. Critter Crossfire features a single-player roguelike campaign mode and 2-4 player local multiplayer versus modes.

There are over 100 wacky items to master, and players can mix and match weapons and upgrades to build their perfect loadout. The game also offers 16 unique campaign challenges that change how players approach each run, with unique map mechanics such as moving conveyor belts and spinning obstacles to shoot through. Steam Remote Play support is available for players to challenge their friends online.
