Constance Releasing in 2025: A Metroidvania Exploring Mental Health

btf Games and ByteRockers' Games have announced the release date for their 2D hand-drawn metroidvania game, Constance. The game will be available on PC starting November 24th, 2025, and will follow on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 in 2026. Constance is a paint-based platformer and combat game, where players transform into paint to dive into the ground and walls, slice through the air and enemies, and utilize an array of unique brush techniques.

The game features more than six unique biomes in Constance’s inner-world, with each region featuring its unique set of enemies and characters representing different aspects of her psyche and personal history. Players can uncover countless secrets, multiple paths, deadly boss battles, characters, side quests and collectibles in this nonlinear interconnected inner-world.

Constance's gameplay revolves around balance, as using brush techniques will corrupt the player's paint. Players must become stronger by unlocking new brush techniques, defeating threatening foes, overcoming platforming challenges, and solving complex puzzles to advance their progress. The game's story follows Constance's personal struggles, unlocking her creativity, and finding her inner purpose.
