Virtual Reality Gaming Early Access Indie Game Pc Games Free To Play

Bootstrap Island, a survival game in virtual reality (VR), has announced the release of its latest update, named the "Overlord Update." This update is available for free to all current owners of the game and includes a new challenge in the form of the Jungle Overlord, a formidable boss monster that resides in the island's interior. The update also includes gameplay enhancements such as the addition of boots to increase walking and running speed, the spoilage of food which becomes inedible if not cooked, and a day counter that displays the current day atop the volcano each morning.

Bootstrap Island is a roguelike survival game set in the 17th century, where players must explore an island and gather resources to survive. The game has been available in Steam Early Access since February 2024 and is developed by Maru VR, an indie studio based in Estonia that has been producing VR games and experiences since 2016. The studio's goal is to push the boundaries of VR and explore new approaches to storytelling, interactive design, and gameplay. The full release of Bootstrap Island is planned for late 2025.
