Bootstrap Island, the survival adventure game by Maru VR, is set to release a major update this fall, adding new content and features for players. The update includes the first boss encounter in the game, the Jungle Overlord, who resides in the Dark Lair. Defeating the boss will grant players new boots that increase walking and running speed. Additionally, new edible critters will be available, and food will now spoil over time, adding a new challenge for players.

The update is the second major one since the game's Steam Early Access launch in February, following the Building and Inventory update in June. This update allowed players to construct shelters and customize them, as well as introduced a new inventory management system.

Bootstrap Island is a roguelike survival game set in the 17th century, where players must explore a mysterious island and gather resources to survive. The game is developed by Maru VR, an Estonia-based indie studio that has produced over 40 location-based VR games and experiences. Maru VR's goal is to push the boundaries of VR with new approaches to storytelling, interactive design, and gameplay.
