Bootstrap Island: Survive the 17th Century VR Roguelike, Launching Feb 22, 2024

Maru VR, a Tallinn-based virtual reality studio, has announced that their much-awaited VR game, Bootstrap Island, will be launched on February 22, 2024, on Steam Early Access, priced at $24.99 with a 20% launch discount. The game is exclusively designed for PC VR headsets, such as Valve Index and Meta Quest PC-link devices, aiming to provide a realistic survival adventure experience.

In Bootstrap Island, players are stranded on a mysterious tropical island in the 17th century and must survive by finding food, water, and weapons while preparing for encounters with ferocious beasts. The game offers a roguelike experience with short, intense sessions, randomized resources, and a progression system that unlocks new resources and improves gameplay with each successful survival attempt.

Bootstrap Island boasts a dynamic open world with realistic physics and systems-based gameplay, including day and night cycles and fire and liquid simulations that directly impact gameplay. The game features a captivating narrative set in a 17th-century storybook atmosphere.

Maru VR will host a Gameplay Reveal on February 20, 2024, at 5 pm PST on their Bootstrap Island Steam page, showcasing new features, areas, resources, and creatures. Fans can join the Discord community and watch new gameplay videos created by top VR talents on the Bootstrap Island YouTube channel.

Maru VR is an indie studio based in Estonia that has produced over 40 location-based VR games and experiences since 2016.
