Swedish solo-developer Niklas Hallin is set to release his pixel-art puzzle-platformer game, Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists, on Steam on September 26th, 2024. The game takes place in a world destroyed by mechanical greed, where the player controls Alruna, a forest-nymph, who must navigate through sprawling subterranean labyrinths to uncover the truth behind the Necro-Industrialists.

Hallin emphasizes that Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists offer a unique experience in the metroidvania genre, with a focus on tight, compact level design and a move-set that allows players to skip parts of the game or play it out of order. The game features a post-apocalyptic world where the earth is sucked dry, and the only remaining inhabitants are poor skele-men who shuffle endlessly in a toiling mockery of life.

The game's heavy 8-bit soundtrack is provided by Burning Planet, a music production company for games that has now expanded into a game publisher. The publisher approaches indie games as if they were bands, providing a unique perspective in the gaming industry.

Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists offer a raw, old-school gaming experience with a dryad protagonist in a dying world. The game's focus on tight level design and a unique move-set provides players with a fresh take on the metroidvania genre. With its heavy 8-bit soundtrack and post-apocalyptic setting, Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists promise to deliver an unforgettable gaming experience.
